Low-code Microsoft platform for building, deploying, and governing AI agents across Microsoft 365, Teams, websites, and enterprise workflows.
Enterprise AI agent development platform with low-code authoring, Microsoft 365 grounding, Power Platform automation, MCP integration, and preview computer-use automation.
Microsoft Copilot Studio is Microsoft's low-code enterprise agent platform for building governed AI copilots and automations across Microsoft 365, Teams, websites, and business systems, with pay-as-you-go billing at $0.01/Copilot Credit or $200/month annual capacity packs that include 25,000 Copilot Credits. It is strongest for organizations already using Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure, Dataverse, and Microsoft Entra because those services shape its governance, connector, deployment, and identity model. Copilot Studio supports low-code agent authoring, Power Automate actions, Microsoft 365 grounding, multi-channel deployment, MCP server integration, and preview computer-use capabilities for workflows where APIs are limited. Teams can use it to build internal assistants for employee self-service, IT support, HR workflows, knowledge retrieval, sales operations, customer service, and process automation while keeping administration aligned with Microsoft tenant controls. Its value comes from combining conversation design, enterprise data access, workflow execution, deployment channels, analytics, and governance in one Microsoft-managed environment rather than requiring separate chatbot, integration, and identity layers. Makers can start with templates and a visual authoring canvas, add instructions and knowledge sources, connect actions through Power Automate or Power Platform connectors, and publish agents to supported channels such as Teams, websites, apps, and selected messaging surfaces. For Microsoft-centric enterprises, this makes Copilot Studio a practical way to move from simple question-answer bots toward agents that can complete business tasks, route work, retrieve grounded information, and collaborate with other agents or workflows. The platform is also relevant for organizations experimenting with newer agent patterns. MCP support lets configured MCP servers expose tools and resources to Copilot Studio agents, which can reduce one-off integration work when teams already maintain approved MCP services. Multi-agent scenarios are supported through routing, handoffs, orchestration patterns, and workflow collaboration, although Microsoft does not publish a single universal maximum agent count for every tenant and scenario. Preview computer use extends automation to Windows and web applications where APIs are unavailable, but this capability should be treated carefully because it is preview functionality and introduces additional reliability, security, supervision, and prompt-injection considerations. The main tradeoff is complexity. Copilot Studio is not the simplest option for a quick standalone chatbot, and its credit-based pricing requires usage modeling because different features consume different amounts of Copilot Credit capacity. Pay-as-you-go requires an Azure subscription, annual capacity packs require commitment, and larger pre-purchase plans are best suited to organizations with predictable or scaled usage. Teams outside the Microsoft ecosystem may find lighter automation or chatbot platforms faster to adopt. For enterprises already standardized on Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure, Dynamics, SharePoint, OneDrive, Dataverse, Microsoft Graph, and Entra ID, however, Copilot Studio offers a deeply integrated path for building, deploying, and governing AI agents across real business workflows.
