Cutroom is a web-based AI video editor built for one narrow job: turning a single spoken take into a finished vertical video. Users upload one take of up to 3 minutes with sound, often recorded on a phone, and Cutroom returns a 9:16 MP4 with captions, b-roll, an opening hook and transitions. Wide footage is center-cropped to vertical. The product does not handle long-form videos, podcasts or webinars.

The editing choices are packaged into four templates: Straight cut, Punch, Flow and Native. Each sets the caption theme, hook theme, b-roll placement, pacing, zooms and sound effects. Within that, users can choose from 40 caption themes in seven fonts, 15 hook themes and several b-roll layouts, including full screen, a small card, a bottom band or a tilted card. B-roll is placed on the exact words it illustrates, drawing from the user's own uploaded clips first and then free stock footage. Some templates shorten pauses and remove filler words, and music stays off until enabled.

Changes are made through the transcript instead of a timeline: highlighting words lets users move or swap b-roll, correct misheard words and change caption or hook styles. Higher plans add AI avatars that turn a photo or video plus a voice into a presenter, generated music, animation and product shots, which support faceless and ad-style videos.

Pricing is credit based. The first video is free with 600 credits, no card and a watermark, and must be made within 7 days. Lite costs $19.99/month for about 10 one-minute videos, Basic $39.99/month for about 20 plus avatars and music, and Premium $79.99/month for about 41 plus animation and product shots. Enterprise offers custom credits, SSO and a dedicated pipeline. An annual option is advertised with three months free, but annual prices are not listed.
