Anthropic Cowork

Computer Use lets Claude point, click, type, and navigate on-screen elements when it doesn't have a direct tool integration. This turns Cowork into a general-purpose desktop agent capable of operating any macOS application — from browsers to spreadsheets to custom internal tools — using the same screen interactions a human would use.

Dispatch enables users to send task instructions to their desktop from a mobile device, so Cowork can run workflows on the Mac while the user is away. This is particularly useful for professionals who travel or step away from their workstation but still need file processing or document tasks completed.

Cowork reads file contents, renames documents based on extracted information, organizes folders by topic or date, and summarizes information across multiple files. Instead of writing scripts or learning folder action rules, users describe outcomes in natural language and the agent handles execution.

Cowork translates plain-English instructions into multi-step desktop actions — opening apps, moving data, clicking buttons, saving outputs. This eliminates the need for AppleScript, Automator, or scripting tools for common knowledge-worker tasks. The agent breaks complex requests into steps and executes them sequentially.

Cowork is included in existing Claude subscription plans (Pro, Max 5x, Max 20x) rather than sold as a separate product, so users who already pay for Claude chat or Claude Code get desktop agent capabilities without an additional bill. Message quotas are shared across all Claude capabilities within a subscription tier.
