Unla MCP Gateway

Unla MCP Gateway is an MIT-licensed, self-hosted gateway written in Go. It converts existing REST APIs into Model Context Protocol tools through YAML configuration and proxies existing MCP servers without requiring changes to their source code. The current repository documents MCP over Server-Sent Events and Streamable HTTP, OAuth-based pre-authentication, persistent recoverable sessions, Docker deployment, a web management interface, and responses containing text, images, or audio. These capabilities can reduce repeated integration work when an organization already has stable REST services.

The repository also draws a clear line between current features and its roadmap. gRPC conversion, WebSocket conversion, and grouped MCP-server aggregation are unchecked items, so they should not be treated as production features. Because the project warns that it evolves rapidly, operators should pin a tested release and review migrations before upgrading. The software itself is free under the MIT license. Hosting, TLS, monitoring, backups, database services, upgrades, and support remain the operator's responsibility. Unla is best suited to developer teams that want a configurable MCP control point and are prepared to operate it. It is less suitable for companies expecting a managed SaaS connector catalog or contractual uptime. Production adoption should begin with read-only endpoints, user-level authentication, narrow schemas, complete audit logs, timeout and cancellation tests, and documented rollback. Write tools should use least-privilege upstream credentials and confirmation for consequential actions.
