Billed as "Screen Time, but for your tokens," it sits quietly in the macOS menu bar and keeps a live count of today's token usage and estimated spend, so the numbers are always one glance away with no dashboard to open. Clicking the icon reveals the full picture: an hourly usage chart across the day so you can spot runaway sessions the moment they start climbing, plus a cost and per-model breakdown that splits tokens and dollars by model (Opus, Sonnet, and others) and compares today against your baseline. The app's signature feature is its lock-screen nudge — every time daily usage passes a threshold you configure (for example, every 100 million tokens), a full-screen reminder gently takes over your display for ten seconds, then auto-dismisses and hands the day back to you. You choose how often it fires, from frequent check-ins to barely at all. Privacy is a core design decision: Token Time runs entirely locally on your Mac with no account, no cloud sync, and no telemetry — your usage data never leaves the machine. It is a one-time purchase (launch price $6, regularly $8) with no subscription, and requires macOS 13+ on Apple Silicon. It does not act as an MCP server or client; it is a passive local meter for AI usage.
