Overview

Orca, by Stably, is a desktop AI orchestrator described as 'the AI orchestrator for 100x builders.' It lets you run coding agents such as Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and many more side-by-side, each in its own isolated git worktree, and tracks all of them in one place. In practice, that means you can fan a single prompt across several agents, each working in its own isolated worktree, then compare the results and merge the winner. Orca works with essentially any CLI agent: if it runs in a terminal, it runs in Orca, and the supported list includes Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Cursor, Copilot, OpenCode, Amp, Cline, Qwen Code, Devin, Goose, and dozens more. Beyond parallel agents, Orca is a full development workspace. It provides Ghostty-class terminals with WebGL rendering, infinite splits, and persistent scrollback; a VS Code-style editor with autosave where you can drag files or images straight into an agent prompt; and a Design Mode where clicking any UI element in an embedded Chromium window sends its HTML, CSS, and a cropped screenshot into your agent's prompt. GitHub and Linear are native, so you can browse PRs, issues, and project boards in-app and open a worktree from any task. You can annotate AI-generated diffs line by line and send comments back to the agent, review and commit without leaving the app, and run agents on remote boxes via SSH worktrees with auto-reconnect and port forwarding. A mobile companion app for iOS and Android lets you monitor and steer agents from your phone and get notified when one finishes. Agents can also drive Orca themselves through the Orca CLI, scripting workflows with commands like worktree create, snapshot, click, and fill, and a Computer Use capability lets agents operate desktop apps and visible UI. Orca is a cross-platform desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux, installable from onOrca.dev or via Homebrew and the AUR. Note: while the profiling brief labeled it an 'AI testing agent,' the README presents Orca as an AI coding-agent orchestrator and IDE.

Best Use Cases

🎯

Orchestrating and comparing multiple AI coding agents in parallel

⚡

Isolating agent work in git worktrees for safe experimentation

🔧

Reviewing, annotating, and merging AI-generated diffs in one workspace

🚀

Running agents on remote hardware and steering them from mobile

Pros & Cons

✓ Pros

  • ✓Wraps any CLI agent — vendor-neutral so it stays useful as the coding-agent market churns
  • ✓Isolated git worktrees per agent make parallel experimentation genuinely safe
  • ✓Design Mode collapses the screenshot-plus-CSS-plus-prompt loop into a single click
  • ✓SSH remote worktrees let expensive agent runs live on beefier hardware
  • ✓Mobile companion means you can monitor and steer agents without being at the desk

✗ Cons

  • ✗Desktop-only — no browser or hosted control plane if your primary workstation is locked down
  • ✗No MCP support currently — integration is CLI and Orca-CLI-based
  • ✗Running multiple frontier agents in parallel multiplies your token bill quickly
  • ✗Design Mode requires the Chromium browser inside Orca; it does not observe external browsers
  • ✗Newer entrant — configuration and workflow patterns are still solidifying compared to established IDEs
