Outerbase is an AI-augmented database interface that lets developers and analysts explore, query, edit, and visualize data across Postgres, MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB, and more — using natural language alongside SQL, with collaborative workspaces and a clean modern UI replacing legacy clients like pgAdmin or DBeaver.
Outerbase modernizes the database client. Legacy tools like pgAdmin and Sequel Pro are powerful but feel decades old, and SaaS alternatives often lock data inside proprietary connectors. Outerbase connects directly to your existing databases (Postgres, MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Cloudflare D1, Turso, and more) and provides a browser-based workspace with a spreadsheet-style data grid, a SQL editor with AI assist, automatic ER diagram generation, and AI-generated dashboards from natural-language prompts.
The AI assistant is the differentiator versus older clients. Ask 'show me top 10 customers by revenue this month' and Outerbase generates the SQL, runs it, and renders a chart — letting non-SQL teammates self-serve while still showing the underlying query so engineers can review and trust the result. The AI also assists with schema design, suggests indexes for slow queries, drafts migrations, and explains complex queries in plain English.
For teams, Outerbase adds version control on saved queries, role-based access on schemas and tables, audit logs, and a collaborative comment system so analysts and engineers can discuss data in context. Sharing dashboards is straightforward — pin a query as a chart and embed it in a workspace others can view without database credentials. There is also a developer-friendly side: SDKs and a hosted edge data layer for building lightweight backend APIs on top of any connected database.
Outerbase was acquired by Cloudflare in early 2025 and is being integrated with Cloudflare's data platform (D1, Hyperdrive, Workers AI), making it a particularly strong choice for teams building on the Cloudflare stack. Pricing has a free tier suitable for individuals and small projects, with paid team and enterprise tiers for larger orgs and compliance requirements.
