OfficeCLI bills itself as the first Office suite purpose-built for AI agents, and the pitch is practical: give any agent full control over .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx files in one line, with no Microsoft Office installation and no Python library juggling. It ships as a single self-contained binary (embedded .NET runtime) for macOS, Linux, and Windows, installable via curl, Homebrew, or npm. Agents address document elements with simple path selectors and get structured JSON back. Its built-in HTML rendering engine converts documents to HTML or PNG so the agent can actually see what it made, and a live watch mode streams edits to a browser preview in real time. Coverage is deep: Word tracked changes, TOCs, LaTeX equations, mermaid diagrams, RTL/i18n; Excel with 350+ auto-evaluated formula functions, pivot tables, slicers, and conditional formatting; PowerPoint animations, morph transitions, 3D models, themes, and charts. MCP support is built in: 'officecli mcp claude' (or cursor, vscode, lmstudio) registers it as an MCP server in one command. It also auto-installs an agent skill into Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and Copilot via 'officecli install'.
