Mistral AI

Mistral AI is a French frontier-model lab that has become the default European alternative to OpenAI and Anthropic. The company ships a wide ladder of models — from the openly downloadable Mistral 7B, Mixtral 8x7B, and Mistral Small variants through to closed flagship models like Mistral Large and the Codestral family for code. All of these are available through La Plateforme, Mistral's developer cloud, which provides OpenAI-compatible chat, completions, embeddings, fine-tuning, function calling, and JSON-mode endpoints. A separate consumer product, Le Chat, layers a multimodal assistant with web search, document analysis, code interpreter, image generation, and an Agent Builder on top of the same backend, and is sold in Pro, Team, and Enterprise tiers.
