Kimiko is a Mac and Windows note taker that records meeting audio without a bot, writes summaries and tasks, and runs speech and AI models locally by default.
A desktop app that records your meetings from your own computer, then writes notes, summaries and to-dos, processing on your device by default.
Kimiko is a desktop application for Mac and Windows that combines meeting notes, written notes, AI chat and voice dictation in one workspace. It is built by Inovia AI Solutions LTD and positions itself as a local-first note taker: speech recognition and text processing run on the user's computer by default, and cloud services are opt-in.
For meetings, Kimiko records the microphone and the computer's own audio rather than sending a bot into the call. That approach makes it independent of the meeting platform, and the site lists Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Webex and FaceTime. After a call it produces a summary of decisions and next steps and suggests tasks that stay linked to the meeting they came from. Users can also write standalone notes with headings, checklists, tables and images, and an optional polish feature rewrites notes while keeping the original. An AI chat panel answers questions about one meeting, a selection of notes or a whole project, with citations back to the transcript. Other features include system-wide dictation into apps such as Gmail, Slack and Google Docs, talk-versus-listen statistics, experimental speaker recognition, calendar sync with Google Calendar and Outlook, and export to PDF, Word or Markdown.
On the model side, Kimiko bundles Whisper and Parakeet for on-device transcription and Gemma and Qwen as local language models, and it can connect to Ollama or LM Studio. Users who prefer cloud quality can add ElevenLabs for speech and Anthropic or OpenRouter for text with their own keys. A local MCP connector lets AI clients such as Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Raycast AI and LM Studio read Kimiko's notes once the user enables it in settings.
The Mac app needs Apple silicon and macOS 14.4 or later, and the Windows app needs 64-bit Windows 11; about 16 GB of RAM is recommended for local processing. Pricing is $12 per month or $8.99 per month billed annually, each covering up to three computers, after a free trial of 14 days or five meetings. Enterprise pricing is on request.
Compared with cloud note takers such as Otter.ai, Fireflies.ai or Fathom, Kimiko trades a hosted, bot-based workflow for local control and platform independence. It sits closest to Granola in its bot-free desktop approach, with a stronger emphasis on running models on the user's own hardware.
