Herdr (herdr.dev, github.com/ogulcancelik/herdr) is a single Rust binary that turns your terminal into a control room for AI coding agents. Think tmux, but agent-aware: it shows every running agent — Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI, Devin CLI, Droid, Kimi Code CLI, OpenCode, Pi, OMP, and more — with real terminal views and live status (blocked, working, done), so you can herd many agents in parallel instead of babysitting one chat window. Sessions survive restarts: detach, walk away, reattach from any terminal or over SSH, and official integrations add native session identity so Herdr can actually resume a Claude Code or Codex session rather than just re-showing a dead pane. A distinctive feature is that agents can use Herdr too — a pure socket API lets agents spawn panes, read each other's output, and wait on one another, enabling multi-agent workflows without a heavyweight orchestrator; there's a published agent skill for this. Both keyboard (tmux-style prefix keys) and mouse (click, drag, split) are first-class, and a plugin marketplace extends panes and workflows. Install via one-line script, Homebrew, or mise, with a Windows beta available. It's free and open source, dual-licensed AGPL-3.0 with commercial licenses available for organizations that can't comply with AGPL; development is funded by GitHub sponsors. Note on MCP: Herdr does not ship an MCP server or client — its agent-to-agent interface is its own local socket API plus per-agent integration hooks.
