Leading multi-agent framework and platform for building, deploying, and monitoring collaborative AI agent teams.
CrewAI is one of the most-used open-source frameworks for multi-agent orchestration. Its programming model is simple and intuitive: you define agents with roles, goals, and backstories, give them tools, and compose them into a Crew (a team) that executes a Task or Flow. Underneath, CrewAI handles delegation, memory, task dependencies, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints, so building a "researcher + writer + editor" pipeline or a "planner + coder + reviewer" pipeline is a few dozen lines of Python.
Beyond the OSS framework, CrewAI Enterprise is a commercial platform that turns crews into deployable, monitored automations: hosted execution, cron and webhook triggers, secrets management, observability dashboards, human approval steps, a marketplace of prebuilt crews, and role-based access. It integrates with LangChain tools, LlamaIndex, and MCP servers, so agents can call external APIs, RAG systems, and browser automations without custom glue. Multi-model support (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, open-weight via LiteLLM and OpenRouter) means teams aren't locked into a provider.
CrewAI is popular in consulting, RevOps, marketing, and back-office automation — anywhere a team can codify a job into a crew and let it run on a schedule. The OSS core is MIT-licensed. Enterprise offers Team and Business plans (per-seat + execution credits) and Enterprise deals with SSO, SOC 2, and on-prem/VPC deployment. It's a strong first choice for teams that want a clear mental model for multi-agent systems without giving up on production concerns.
CrewAI offers the most intuitive multi-agent framework for teams that want role-based collaboration without deep orchestration knowledge. Its crew metaphor makes agent design approachable, though it can feel limiting for highly custom workflows compared to LangGraph.

We believe in transparent reviews. Here's what CrewAI doesn't handle well:
Through late 2025 and into 2026, CrewAI has continued to push CrewAI AMP as the production deployment story for agent crews, expanding observability, traces, and an in-browser Studio for designing and testing crews. The framework added deeper Flows support so teams can mix deterministic event-driven steps with agentic Crews in one codebase, and broadened LiteLLM-powered model coverage to include the latest Claude, Gemini, and open-weight models served via vLLM and Ollama. Memory and RAG primitives have been hardened, and the maintainers have invested in enterprise features such as audit logging, RBAC, and VPC deployment for regulated customers. Community traction continues with the GitHub repo crossing 48K stars and a growing catalog of templates and integrations.
