Comet is Perplexity's AI-native web browser. Built on top of Chromium, it embeds Perplexity's answer engine and an agent that can act on web pages on the user's behalf — booking flights, drafting and sending emails, comparing products, filling out forms, summarising long pages, and stitching together multi-step workflows that previously required jumping between tabs. A persistent sidebar makes Perplexity the default 'what is this page' surface, but the headline feature is Comet's autonomous agent mode that takes a high-level goal ('find the cheapest direct flight from LAX to JFK next weekend and add it to my calendar') and drives the browser to completion. Comet was initially gated behind Perplexity's premium tiers (Comet Pro and Comet Max) and opened up more broadly in 2026 alongside Perplexity's Enterprise plan, where companies can deploy Comet with SSO and admin controls. The browser supports the user's choice of underlying model (Claude, GPT, Gemini, Sonar, etc.), syncs across devices, and ships on macOS, Windows, and increasingly iOS. For Perplexity power users who want the assistant to do more than answer questions, Comet is the most ambitious agent browser on the market alongside Dia and ChatGPT Atlas.
