Salesforce Agentforce - Pros & Cons

Pros

  • ✓Focused capabilities address a concrete workflow instead of offering a generic chat interface
  • ✓A short pilot can test the core workflow with representative data
  • ✓Published features are specific enough to define measurable acceptance tests
  • ✓Related tools make direct same-input comparison practical

Cons

  • ✗Best for existing Salesforce customers; licensing, credits, data quality and specialist administration add complexity.
  • ✗Output still requires a qualified human for consequential or customer-facing work
  • ✗Integration, retention, export and support terms must be checked for the selected plan
  • ✗Subscription price does not include setup, review time or operational ownership

Agent Zero - Pros & Cons

Pros

  • ✓Fully open source under MIT — no vendor lock-in or per-seat pricing
  • ✓Self-extending tool system means the agent gets more capable as you use it
  • ✓Mix and match providers (frontier for reasoning, local for routine) to control cost
  • ✓Native MCP client opens up the broader MCP server ecosystem
  • ✓Docker sandbox keeps experiments isolated from your host machine

Cons

  • ✗Requires Docker familiarity and comfort reading Python
  • ✗No built-in evals, telemetry, or guardrails — you wire those in yourself
  • ✗Self-written tool directory can accumulate cruft without housekeeping
  • ✗UI is functional rather than polished compared to SaaS competitors
